What Is Puptreaty?

Puptreaty is a blog for dog owners who want to treat their dogs well — without the guesswork.

Here you’ll find honest information about dog treats, snacks, and simple care tips. Nothing fancy. Just real, helpful content from someone who loves dogs and thinks about what goes into their bowl.

Why I Started This Blog

My name is Barbara D. Helms, and it started with my dog, Biscuit.

A few years ago, I was shopping for dog treats and had no idea what I was looking at. The ingredient lists were long and confusing. Some treats looked healthy but had ingredients I couldn’t even pronounce. Others were cheap but smelled wrong.

I spent way too long Googling things like “is this safe for dogs?” and “what’s the difference between these two chews?”

I figured other dog owners were probably doing the same thing.

So I started writing things down. First for myself. Then I thought — maybe this can help someone else too.

That’s how Puptreaty was born.

What I Actually Do

I’m not a vet. I’m not a pet nutritionist.

What I am is a dog owner who pays close attention and takes this stuff seriously.

I spend time researching ingredients, reading product labels, and testing treats with my own dog. If you want to see what I’ve found, you can browse my Dog Treat Recipes — simple, tested ideas that Biscuit actually approves of.

What Puptreaty Is About

The mission here is simple.

Help dog owners choose treats and snacks that are safe, simple, and good for their dogs.

That means cutting through the noise. No hype. No hard sells. Just clear answers to real questions. I cover everything from homemade dog treat ideas to understanding what’s actually in store-bought food — you can explore my Dog Food guides for straightforward breakdowns.

If I don’t know something, I say so. If I’m unsure, I point you toward someone more qualified — like your vet.

How I Create Content

Every post starts with a question — usually one I’ve had myself or one a fellow dog owner asked me.

From there, I research. I look at ingredient lists, cross-check with veterinary nutrition sources, and dig into any studies or expert articles I can find. If it’s a treat I can get my hands on, I try it out with Biscuit and see how she reacts.

I write in plain language. No jargon. No fluff.

My goal is that you finish reading a post and actually feel like you learned something useful.

A Note on Trust

I want this site to be somewhere you can come back to.

That means I won’t recommend something just because it sounds good. I won’t make claims I can’t back up. And I’ll always be upfront when I’m not sure about something.

If you ever have a question or spot something that doesn’t seem right, you’re welcome to reach out. I’d rather be corrected than wrong.

Thanks for being here. Biscuit and I are glad you stopped by. 🐾
